Calling all Paralympians! As the caretakers of one of the world’s most important disability history collections, the NPHT are committed to capturing, collecting and preserving the experiences of British Paralympic athletes, from caring for their donated items to recording oral histories. We want every Paralympic athlete to be represented in our collection, preserving their place in the Paralympic story for generations to come. If you are a Paralympian, or family member, and would like to share your memories, or donate items relating to the Paralympic Games, then we would be delighted to talk to you. Please email [email protected] for more information and to arrange an initial chat. We are happy to share that our friends at ParalympicsGB are on a mission to award every Paralympian across their history with Games Recognition Tokens, to celebrate their place in our Paralympic legacy, as part of their new Athlete Community programme. The ParalympicsGB Athlete Community creates opportunities for old friends, teammates, and fellow sporting legends to be brought back together, and for new connections to be made across the generations. ParalympicsGB have records of almost 2000 athletes in their alumni spanning 6 decades, and are now embarking on the task of identifying and finding every individual. If you are a GB Paralympian, know one or are the loved one of those who’ve passed, please visit the ParalympicsGB website for more details on the Athlete Community programme, how to sign up and receive personal Recognition Tokens. Once a Paralympian, always a Paralympian. This programme is a first of its kind, developed with athletes for athletes, with the intention of connecting and reuniting every Paralympian who has competed at a Paralympic Games for Great Britain and Northern Ireland since the inaugural competition in 1960. More information and details of how to sign up can be found here: https://paralympics.org.uk/articles/athlete-community. If you have any questions or want to hear more, Paralympics GB would love to hear from you. You can get in touch at [email protected]. Manage Cookie Preferences
