Meet Paralympic sprinter Thomas Young

We were delighted to welcome gold winning Paralympic sprinter Thomas Young to our online talk on Friday 8th March for schools and home educated children.

At the age of 18, Thomas Young burst onto the scene winning double gold in the T38 100m and 200m at the 2018 European Championships in Berlin. At his Paralympic Games debut in Tokyo 2020 he claimed gold, running 10.94 seconds in the T38 100m final, at just 21 years of age.

Still in his early 20s, Thomas is now focused on the next Paralympic Games in Paris 2024.  

Thomas explained to students how he undertook to improve his understanding of his impairment, which meant he couldn’t ride a bike, whilst navigating his aspirations to train and compete at the highest level. He spoke about how he is targeting his training and his life style, to achieve the grand slam of Paralympic, World, European and Commonwealth titles. 

We were joined by BSL interpreter Marie Biswell for this event.
