Paralympic Heritage: Stories from Milton Keynes

In collaboration with Milton Keynes Museum and with support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and MK Community Foundation the Paralympic Heritage Stories regional exhibition was open from March until the end of May 2023.

Visitors found out about how the Paralympic Movement began, with the inspirational story of Professor Sir Ludwig Guttmann, and how far we have come as a nation in supporting and celebrating disability sport. Using a range of displays and memorabilia, visitors learnt about local and national Paralympians, all of whom have contributed to the legacy of the Paralympic Games.

Milton Keynes Museum Director Bill Griffiths said:

This exhibition is one way of reminding people of contributions already made by truly inspiring people. There is so much more that we have to learn. We did not know that athletes come from all over the country to train with organisations and use the facilities here in Milton Keynes.
