DICE Club was delighted to welcome Para Powerlifter Louise Sugden to join us on January 16th as our Paralympian speaker.

Louise (centre) with the DICE Club Business Breakfast attendees.

Louise started her sporting career as a wheelchair basketball player at the age of 13. She had an international playing career spanning 11 years in which time the team won 5 bronze European medals and achieved a World ranking of 5th (2014). In 2017, Louise officially retired from wheelchair basketball and made the move to Para powerlifting in the same year. She made a quick impact in the sport, becoming Commonwealth silver medallist (Gold Coast), European Champion and British Champion & record holder in 2018. Her success continued with medals at many World Cup events between 2019 and 2021 and culminated at the Tokyo Paralympic Games where she took home the bronze medal with a lift of 131kg. Louise is also a qualified accountant!
